The gaming upcoming Intel Mini-PC codenamed Serpent Canyon has been revealed.

This could be the biggest upgrade to NUC series thus far. The successor to 11th Gen Core based Phantom Canyon will feature up to 14-core Intel Core i7-12700H processor and Intel’s own Arc A770M discrete GPU. The predecessor featured Core i7-1165G7 quad-core CPU and NVIDIA RTX 2060 graphics.

Serpent Canyon features i7-12700H CPU with 6 Performance cores and 8 Efficient cores, a total of 14 cores and 20 threads. The CPU is clocked up to 4.7 GHz and features 24MB of cache. This Alder Lake-H SKU is a very popular choice among gaming laptops.

The graphics have been upgraded from RTX 2060 with 12GB memory to Arc A770M GPU with full ACM-G10 processor with 32 Xe-Cores and a total of 16GB GDDR6 memory. This is the top offering from Intel Alchemist mobile series. It is not clear how much power does A770M have on NUC 12, but officially the TGP for this Arc GPU is in 120W to 150W range.

The front panel of the devices offers SDXC card slot with support for UHS-II standard. It also features Thunderbolt 4 connector, 3.5mm audio jack and USB 3.2 Type-A connectors.

The rear panel has four USB Type-A connectors, Intel 2.5G Ethernet interface, additional Thunderbolt 4 connector and HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.0 interfaces. This means Serpent Canyon is among the first devices to feature this new DisplayPort connector.

The NUC 12 is a compact version of Intel’s own MiniPC (Small Form Factor) systems. The company also offers NUC 12 Extreme “Dragon Canyon” which uses desktop LGA1700 socket with support for up to 16-core Core i9-12900 CPU. This system is much larger than Serpent Canyon though, but in exchange it offers support for a full-sized discrete GPU.

The thread on Baidu does not confirm the release date, however it is mentioned the product will be ‘available soon’.
